Hair Loss Treatments
Hair loss can be an embarrassing subject for both men and women that are experiencing it, and many people feel uncomfortable asking for advice on hair loss treatments or asking others for recommendations.
Hopefully this site can give you plenty of information, answer some of your pressing questions, and provide some honest reviews of hair loss treatments, including hair loss products for men and hair loss products for women, that will enable you to make an informed decision.
Types of Hair Loss Treatments
There are two general types of hair loss treatments, topical treatments and oral medications.
- Topical treatments are usually lotions or shampoos that are applied directly to the scalp, such as Minoxidil, which often has the brand name Regaine.
- Oral medications are usually internal antiandrogens such as Finasteride, which often has the brand name Propecia.
Both types of treatment are suitable for people experiencing hereditary hair loss, and are most effective when used in the early stages of hair loss. They stimulate the hair follicles to work more effectively, halting the hair loss process and giving the appearance of a fuller, thicker head of hair.
Hair Loss Products for Men
Hair loss products for men tend to be stronger than hair loss products for women. For example, Rogaine for men, a topical hair loss solution, contains 5% Minoxidil, while Rogaine for Women only contains 2% Minoxidil.
For men experiencing the early stages of hair loss, a topical treatment used regularly could be enough to stop the process in its tracks. For men that have more advanced hair loss, a combination of an internal antiandrogen, and a topical lotion or shampoo is likely to give the best results.
Over the coming weeks we’ll be including several hair loss products for men on the site and will be listing product reviews here. We’ll also be discussing the potential side effects of the various hair loss treatments if there are any.
Hair Loss Products for Women
Women have to be a little more careful about taking medication for hair loss such as internal antiandrogens, or Finasteride, especially if they are of child bearing age, as these medicines can have an impact on an unborn fetus.
Most hair loss products for women are based on Minoxidil, the only FDA approved hair loss treatment for women, and these include lotions such as Rogaine for Women. However, there are plenty of other products on the market that can improve hair and scalp health, giving the appearance of fuller, shinier, healthier looking hair with increased volume, such as Nioxin Scalp Treatment.
Over the coming weeks we will be adding a number of hair loss products for women to the site, and we have already taken a look at the products listed below.
